tell me your stories!

Conservative blogs and commentary sites have been full of reports lately (here’s an example) mocking progressives who agonize over how to have a conversation with family at Thanksgiving — in some cases, progressives simply fear interacting with Trump supporters, and in other cases, they actively try to instruct each other in how to “convert” wayward family members to get them to see The Truth.

Is it a small minority of progressives engaged in this hand-wringing?  Maybe.  One hopes that most people, no matter their politics, can get along at the dinner table — and I expect that most family disputes have nothing at all to do with the election.

But — heck, I’d love to hear your stories, either about political arguments, or lack thereof, or other great Thanksgiving dinner tales.

Me?  It’s just us, because we didn’t make the trek to my folks’ this year.  And it’s time to get the turkey in the oven.

So Happy Thanksgiving to readers!

UPDATE:

Here’s our family feast:

FullSizeRender

From top to bottom:

Salad

Canned cranberry sauce

Stove Top stuffing (which we stuffed in the bird, ‘kay?)

Turkey

Greek-style green beans

Mashed potatoes & gravy

Green beans & bacon

Not pictured:  pumpkin rolls

Now the family is stuffed to the gills with food, and the fridge is stuffed with leftovers, but it was a very manage-ably-sized meal for the five of us, with favorites made from scratch and others from boxes/cans.  And the kids are playing Risk, and my husband is watching chess on the computer, and I’ll see if there’s a book I want to pull off the shelf shortly.  Later we may or may not have a dessert.

What are you eating today?  And what family traditions do you have, besides food?
