God is Responsible in His Love by Giving to His Creation
God is responsible in His love by giving to His creation. Responsible love is the ability to effectively respond to love. Our problem as Christians is that we don’t know how to respond to God’s love. We see that in Genesis. God creates Adam and Eve. God expresses enormous love to them in the following ways:
He creates them. He provides for them. He stays with them
God is giving to Adam and Eve. He keeps giving. He gives a garden.
“The Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he placed the man he had formed.” (Genesis 2:8, CSB)
He gives Adam purpose.
“The Lord God took the man and placed him in the garden of Eden to work it and watch over it.” (Genesis 2:15, CSB)
God gives Adam a helper – a soul mate.
“So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to come over the man, and he slept. God took one of his ribs and closed the flesh at that place.” (Genesis 2:21, CSB)
God gives creatively for Adam to enjoy.
“The Lord God took the man and placed him in the garden of Eden to work it and watch over it. And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree of the garden, but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day you eat from it, you will certainly die.” Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper corresponding to him.”” (Genesis 2:15–18, CSB)
The animals and the garden were part of God’s creativity.
So God is giving. God shows that He is responding responsibly in love to His creation by giving. What was the result of this responsible love? Adam and Eve shared no shame. When God provides for what we need, there is no shame.
