When Jesus Went on a Divinity Diet

When Jesus Went on a Divinity Diet

but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. (Philippians 2:7 NKJV)

Divinity is a wonderful chocolate. It is rich and thick. I usually eat it around Christmas time. But after eating it, I have to go on a diet.

Jesus Himself went on a divinity diet. This verse describes the fact that Jesus made a diet of His divinity and came to earth. The words “made Himself of no reputation” really describes the opposite of divinity. God’s Son, who was divine, took off the right to divine rule, and came and appeared just as one of us.

In essence, Jesus went on a diet from His divinity. He could have roamed this earth and used His divine abilities to maintain power. Instead, on the cross, Jesus decided to hold back His divine abilities and die a very cruel death as a human.

His divinity is much richer than the chocolate of the same name. He gave His divinity up so that you and I could be with God. That is a much harder diet than anyone will ever face.
