With God, It Always Gets Worse Before It Gets Better
“So Moses went back to the Lord and asked, “Lord, why have You caused trouble for this people? And why did You ever send me? Ever since I went in to Pharaoh to speak in Your name he has caused trouble for this people, and You haven’t delivered Your people at all.” But the Lord replied to Moses, “Now you are going to see what I will do to Pharaoh: he will let them go because of My strong hand; he will drive them out of his land because of My strong hand.”” (Exodus 5:22–6:1, HCSB)
I have noticed in life that with God, it always gets worse before it gets better. Why is this so? One of the reasons is so that we learn to trust in God. Another reason is so that when things do get better, God gets the credit. God wants to use me to do great things. But that can only happen when I learn to trust Him. Many times, this means that I have to see and think that things are so bad that it won’t get any better. I may question God at this time, but in the end, I will recognize that God is the One who makes things possible.
Just as an addict has to hit rock bottom before they can recognize how much they need God, every Christian has to go through a similar struggle to see that they need God. It has to get worse before it gets better.
