How to Have an Enjoyable Life
“Come, children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. Who is the man who delights in life, loving a long life to enjoy what is good? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from deceitful speech. Turn away from evil and do what is good; seek peace and pursue it.” (Psalm 34:11–14, HCSB)
How can a person have an enjoyable life? There are a few ways listed in this psalm in which your speech can help you have an enjoyable life:
5 WAYS THAT MY WORDS CAN HELP ME HAVE AN ENJOYABLE LIFE
1. Don’t speak evil of other people
Don’t speak evil of other people. This is so hard to do sometimes. It’s easy to gossip and say something evil or negative about others. If you speak evil of others, others will take an opportunity to speak evil of you. If you want an enjoyable life, then you need to speak good of others.
2. Turn from evil
Turn from evil. Don’t listen to it. Don’t pay attention to it. When someone is speaking evil of others, go away. It’s necessary to not let yourself be available to hear evil about others.
3. Do good works
Do good for others. If you want to have an enjoyable life, then serve others. Serving others keeps you focused outward and not inward. This helps to make life enjoyable.
4. Seek peace
It’s easy to look for drama. Instead, I should look for peace. I can try to pursue peaceful relationships with others. Strife and conflict bring difficulty in life. Peace brings about positive relationships. I should look for others who will be at peace with me.
5. Pursue peace
The best way my words can bring me an enjoyable life is to pursue peace. Instead of just looking for peace, I should make an effort to making sure I am a person of peace. Peace brings contentment and enjoyment. These five practices will enhance your life.
