Sexual Pollution

Sexual Pollution

““Don’t pollute yourself in any of these ways. This is how the nations became polluted, the ones that I am going to drive out of the land before you. Even the land itself became polluted and I punished it for its iniquities—the land vomited up its inhabitants. You must keep my decrees and laws—natives and foreigners both. You must not do any of these abhorrent things. The people who lived in this land before you arrived did all these things and polluted the land. And if you pollute it, the land will vomit you up just as it vomited up the nations that preceded you.” (Leviticus 18:24–28, The Message)

Sexual pollution is just as bad environmental pollution for a country. Environmental pollution destroys a nation’s topography. Sexual pollution destroys a nation’s morality.

There are side effects of environmental pollution. Acid rain can destroy crops. Oil can contaminate the drinking water. Chemicals in the air can destroy lungs and the sense of smell. In the same way, sexual pollution develops side effects which are just as dangerous for relationships.

Sexual pollution can happen when we develop dangerous ways to become intimate with one another. The Bible shares what God expects for sexual relationships. God’s word also describes how some sexual practices can pollute relationships (See Leviticus 18). Sexual pollution destroys relationships just as environmental pollution destroys the land.

Environmental pollution destroys a nation’s prestige. Chernobyl was a catastrophe for the Soviet Union, which ultimately led to the breakup of the Union. Fukushima scarred the nation of Japan. Sexual pollution destroys a nation’s standing in much the same way. The scars may not be seen, and this type of pollution cannot be detected by environmental scanners. However, it can be just as dangerous to a nation.
