Moving to a One World Economy Through Free Trade Agreements

“And he requires everyone—small and great, rich and poor, free and slave—to be given a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark: the beast’s name or the number of his name.” (Revelation 13:16–17, HCSB)

Today, the European Union and the United States of America are meeting to make a free trade agreement. (You can read about this meeting here). The agreement is known as the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). When completed, this agreement would make the largest free trade partnership in the world. The hope is that this new trade agreement would benefit both the US and the EU.

The EU has made many different special trade agreements (as the map below shows).

In reality, however, it will bring us closer to a one-world global economy. Regional economies have been developed in the past. We have seen ASEAN, the EU, as well as the US (which has a free trade agreement with Mexico and Canada known as NAFTA). It is one thing to have 192 economies each trying to develop trade agreements with each other. It is a very different situation when the world is trading among just a select few agreements. The United States uses the dollar (approximately 350 million people). Many of the countries in the European Union (over 500 million people) use the euro. This makes this trade agreement the largest in the world. As a result, it will make the European Union the largest economy in the world.

Soon, when this agreement is finalized, it will benefit the US and the EU. However, many of the same problems will continue. A select few (generally wealthy countries) will have more power over the poor countries. The stage will be set for one organization, agency, or even person to take control of the economic policies of the entire world.

This person will be able to use a specific currency, a special “mark” which he will use to control the world, and persecute God’s people.
