No one knows the “day or the hour” (24:36), BUT we should know the “times and seasons” (1 Thessalonians 5:1-5, Hebrews 10:24)

What is the length of time for this generation? (Genesis 5:32,7:6; Genesis 6:3; Genesis 15:13,16)

Notice that it says that it sprouts leaves, then you know summer is near. A fig tree bears fruit first, then it sprouts its leaves. So by sprouting leaves, the fig tree is in full bloom. The process is almost finished.

Unbelievers will be caught unaware. Unprepared Christians will be caught unaware. Only the Christian who is prepared, by watching the times, will be ready.

We have to “be ready and alert” so that the thief does not surprise us and rob the house. In the same way, we need to “be ready and alert” so that the return of Christ does not surprise us.
