Lenten Reflection #3: Jesus Grew

Lenten Reflection #3: Jesus Grew is a Lenten reflection on how Jesus grew up at home during His childhood.

“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and with people.” (Luke 2:52, HCSB)

The only snapshot we have of Jesus is His time in the temple. He was learning and growing by asking questions. As God’s Son, He was aware that God had a special purpose for Him. As the son of Joseph and Mary, He was still obedient to His earthly parents.

Jesus grew biologically to the Man God called Him to be.

Jesus grew spiritually into the Teacher that God wanted Him to be.

Jesus grew socially into the Savior that God expected Him to be.

In the same way, we are all expected to grow in these three areas. We are all called to grow biologically. It takes good nutrition and exercise. We are all called to grow spiritually. This requires spending time with God in prayer and His Word. We are all called to grow socially. We are built to be in relationships with one another. God uses all three spheres of growth to make us the man or woman God wants us to be.
