Learn the Bible in 24 Hours by Dr. Chuck Missler
Learn the Bible in 24 Hours by Dr. Chuck Missler is probably the best introductory book to the Bible that I have ever read. Dr. Chuck Missler has written a wonderful guide to the Bible. Written in twenty-four chapters aligning with the twenty-four hours of the day, the book shares the “big picture” of each book of the Bible, as well as the “big pictures” themes that tie these books together. The book was written so that the reader could take each chapter and learn a part of the Bible in a one-hour session. As Missler states in the book, the Bible was written by design, pointing to a Great Designer.
The book was written to help a person study the Bible. The chapters include studies of all sections of the Bible, but also the following themes: (1) Hour 1: Overview of the Bible, (2) Hour 13: How Sure We Can Be? – Proof of the Bible’s Veracity, (3) Hour 23: Eschatology – Study of Last Things, (4) Hour 24: Closing Thoughts.
In my opinion, Missler’s book is the best overview of the Bible. If I were to give a person who did not understand the Bible and wanted a companion to help them read the Bible, I would give them this book. It is written in clear, easy to understand language. The book contains plenty of graphs and maps to help the reader along. This book should be on every Christian’s bookshelf. This book would also be a great gift to people who want to know about the Bible and need a simple guide to help them get a grasp of the grand themes of the Bible as well as summaries of content.
At times, Missler spends more space than necessary on prophecy and clearly promotes a pre-tribulation, pre-millennial view of end-times prophecy. Even so, I would highly recommend this book.
