Christ Is More Important Than the Family Clan

Matthew 10:32-39
It is a sin to put your family before the church. When Christ calls a person to acknowledge Him, He means that Christ has first place before everyone else. Christ is before my spouse, my children, my parents, my relatives, my friends, and my enemies. Why? Because Christ wants to place His family before my own. What will happen when I do? People who care more about the clan than Christ will not be happy with you. When they realize that you are not there to please them, they will reject you. Yet, Christ takes this commitment seriously. If I choose not to share Christ (not just at my baptism, but also in my witness) because of my family, God denies you from His heavenly family. Jesus didn’t come so that you can have a happy family reunion so that your family is safe and secure in this life and the next. Jesus came to call out missionaries to a lost and dying world. Some people in your family won’t like that. You have to choose who your master will be. Is it your Father in Heaven, or your father at home? Is it Jesus or your mamma? Is it your church or you family tradition? Christ is more important than the family clan.
