“For though we live in the body, we do not wage war in an unspiritual way, since the weapons of our warfare are not worldly, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments and every high-minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to obey Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:3–5, HCSB)
Have you ever watched a demolition derby? People drive around in vehicles trying to destroy their opponents vehicle. They ram into the front, the sides, and the back of the opponents vehicle.
It is a loud, dangerous, dirty, messy, and sometimes bloody fight. It is cool to watch. However, it is not so cool to be in the middle of one.
When we think of the demolition of spiritual strongholds, it is like a demolition derby. We are called to seek out in our minds and spirits the opponents vehicles of spiritual destruction. These cars and trucks may be words, thoughts, opinions, impressions, arguments, ideologies, and ideas driven by the Evil One.
The intent of this spiritual warfare is for me to ram into these ideas and tear them down. I mentally drive my spirit into and against these spiritual vehicles. I use the words of Scripture (like Christ did) and the truths of His nature as I would the gas pedal and brake of my own demolition car. I use strategies that would tear down Satan.
Satan is in the business of raising himself up by tearing me down. I need to learn to tear him down and raise Christ up.
Application: I need to ask God to please teach spiritual demolition tactics to help me defeat the Evil One. Please also shield me against him with faith.
Prayer: God, thank You for helping me defeat and destroy the Evil One. Please teach me more of Yourself and how I can oppose Satan.
