God Gives His Grace, Glory, and Goodness
March 9, 2015 Year B
Psalm 84:10-12
“Better a day in your courts than a thousand anywhere else. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God than live in the tents of wicked people. For the Lord God is a sun and shield. The Lord grants favor and honor; he does not withhold the good from those who live with integrity. Happy is the person who trusts in you, Lord of Armies!” (Psalm 84:10–12, CSB)
God gives many things, but He is exclusive to the people whom He gives them to. God does not His grace, glory and good for everyone. Yes, He gives general goodness to everyone.
The rain falls on the just and the unjust.
However, there are things (grace, glory, goodness) which are reserved only for those who trust Him.
God shares certain good things with His children (Amos 3:7).
“Indeed, the Lord God does nothing without revealing his counsel to his servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7, CSB)
God is a giving God, but His best gifts are exclusive to His children. God does not give these gifts to everyone. God gives good gifts, including salvation to everyone who chooses. However, God is an exclusive giver in the sense that He gives better gifts to some than others. He chooses whom He gives His better gifts. He chooses His children, not just those whom He created. God chooses to give His good gifts to His children who serve Him.
What is the condition to receiving grace, glory, and goodness? One must trust God. This is why it is good to spend time in God’s presence (Psalm 84:10). It is great to be around for Who He is as well as what He gives (Psalm 84:12).
Prayer: God, thank you that You have given us Your grace, Your glory, and Your good to me.
