Lab Partners
Philippians 1:3-6
August 28, 2015
Paul partnered with churches as a missionary to share the Gospel. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a partner with the church. But we partner for the same goal – to see people become part of Christ’s kingdom.
Now in science, I was partnered with someone for labs. Sometimes they were good partners and sometimes it was difficult. I remember one time that we were dissecting pigs. Well, the vocal cords must have still had air. Because when they were cut, the pig let out a squeal that scared my partner.
God wants us to partner with Him in the great experiment called the Gospel. We share the good news of Jesus’s death, burial and resurrection that saves us. We share this with test subjects in the lab of life.
We don’t poke and prod into their lives and tear things apart, God does that work through the work of the Holy Spirit. But we are there to partner with God.
You know in a lab partnering situation, it is never 50/50. Usually one does more work than the other. Both are worried about the grade, but one works more for that grade. With the lab work of sharing the Gospel, God does the most work. He works in the life of the test subject. And He works in you, the lab partner (Philippians 1:6). God is not finished with sharing the Gospel and He is not finished with you.
Just as we are partnering to build God’s kingdom, He is partnering to build your life.
God is your lab partner. What kind of work will He do in your life? What areas of your life are you willing for God to open and work on? Whatever He works on, it will make you a better lab partner as you share the Gospel with others.
