Christ Is Central to Everything That Matters

Colossians 1:15-20

Christ is central to everything that matters.

Jesus is central to seeing and knowing God. He is mirror image of God to people who seek God (Colossians 1:15).

Jesus Christ is central to the creative process of God. He is the first Person who has priority (or preeminent) over creation (Colossians 1:15). He co-created with God the Father (Colossians 1:16). Jesus holds everything together (Colossians 1:17).

Jesus Christ is also central to the church. If the church is a body, then Christ is the head (Colossians 1:18).

Jesus Christ is the central figure to life and death. He is the beginning (but never ends – Colossians 1:18). He is the first to experience life after death (- the firstborn from all creation Colossians 1:18).

Jesus is the central figure who has power and authority over everyone. This was given to Jesus because He overcame death (Colossians 1:18).

Jesus is the central pleasure of God. God derives pleasure from many sources, but Jesus is the central pleasure (Colossians 1:19).

Jesus is central my eternal salvation. He is in the business of bringing people back to God and establishing peace with God and humanity through His shed blood on the cross (Colossians 1:20).

Since Christ is central to everything that matters, He expects me to make Him central to everything that matters to me.

Prayer: God, thank You for Jesus being the Center. Please help me make Jesus central to everything that matters in my life.
