Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is like a woman. She took a little leaven, hid it in dough, and made large loaves of it. He who has ears, let him hear.”
The truth of our Divine Unity is one that will inevitably permeate the entirety of human consciousness. Why? Because human consciousness and the divine consciousness are one and the same.
So the reality of our Oneness with God and one another is already present within each of us. It is like this small pinch of leaven or yeast that the woman hides in the lump of dough. While she sleeps, this leaven will grow and spread throughout the entire lump so that, in the morning when she awakens, the lump itself will have also awakened to the reality of this yeast within.
The transformation will take place simply because that yeast is within the dough.
In the same way, the reality of our Oneness with all things is within each of us because it is the Divine Truth that holds the Universe together. The spread of this reality may appear to move agonizingly slow from our perspective, but the night is long and the dawn will break over the horizon eventually.
Until then, all we can do is wait for the yeast to do its work in all of us. Cell by cell, atom by atom, the reality of Oneness spreads out across the Father’s Kingdom until, one day, we all awaken to the truth.
Sometimes we may be tempted to focus our attention on awakening others around us, but then we realize that we ourselves need reminding of our Oneness and connection with everything.
We believe we can see the truth, but then we catch ourselves in seasons of forgetting; we awaken suddenly and realize we have been sleeping through our lives, oblivious to the reality of Divine Unity.
So, perhaps the best we can do is to trust that the leaven is already hidden within the lump of dough and have faith that the process of enlightenment is already in motion. The dawn will come and everyone in the house will awaken to find the loaves have all fully expanded into their proper shapes. Then we will have a feast together and celebrate as the house fills with the delightful aroma of warm bread that nourishes our souls.
