I remembered this morning I had these pictures of the boat ride I spoke about in my Christmas homily (look at previous post). We boarded at Muisne and sailed down the Muisne River (first picture) onto the Pacific Ocean. You can see me on the boat on the left wearing a straw hat and a white t-shirt. We arrived at Cabo San Fernando and walked onto shore (second picture). I had an amazing lunch cooked by the nicest lady (you can see the food and the lady on third picture).
Walking back from lunch… I’m the one wearing all white. To my right is the doctor I translated for and next to him my friend Javier from Los Angeles. The doctor would tease me since when I translated, people would call me doctor too. Due to the long hours translating, up to twelve hours per day, I would sometimes forget to translate and simply repeat what I had been told in Spanish to the doctor. He would smile and remind me every time, “Pablo, I don’t speak Spanish.”
