Now ‘Eliysha’ the prophet called to one from the sons of the prophets
And he said to him,
“Tie your loins
And take a flask of this oil in your hand
And go/walk to Ramot Gil’ad.
And you enter there
And you see there Yehu’ son of Jehoshafat son of Nimshiy
And you enter and cause-him-to-rise from the midst of his brothers
And you shall cause-him-to-enter the inner room in the inner room.
And you take a flask of the oil
And you shall pour it out on his head
And you shall say,
‘Thus says Yahweh,
“I anoint you as king to Yisrael.”’
And you open the door and flee and do not wait.”
And walked/went the boy, the boy of the prophet, to Ramot Gil’ad.
And he entered and Look!
The chiefs of the army sitting
And he said,
“A word to me to you, the chief.”
And said Yehu’,
“To whom from all of us?”
And he said,
“To you, the chief.”
And he arose and he entered to the house.
And he poured the oil to his head and he said to him,
“Thus says Yahweh ‘Elohim of Yisrael:
‘I anoint you as king to the people of Yahweh, to Yisrael.
And you will strike the house of ‘Achav your master
And I will avenge the blood of my servants the prophets
And the blood of all the servants of Yahweh from the hand of ‘Iyzabel.
And ruined will be all the house of ‘Achav
And I will cut of to ‘Achav the one who pisses on the wall
both the bound and the abandoned in Yisrael.
And I will give the house of ‘Achav as the house of Yarav’am son of Nevat
And as the house of B’asha’ son of ‘Achiyyah.
But ‘Iyzebel shall eat the dogs in the portion of Yisre’e’l
And there shall not be burial.’”
And he opened the door and fled.
Now Yehu’ went out to the servants of his master
And he said to him,
“Is it peace?
Why entered this maniac to you.”
And he said to them,
“You yourselves know the man and his musings.”
And they said,
“A lie! Report please to us.”
And he said,
“According to this and according to this he said to me, saying,
‘Thus says Yahweh,
“I anoint you as king over Yisrael.”’”
And they acted quickly and took each his garment
And they set before him to the bone stairway
And they sounded on the Shofar
And they said, “Yehu’ reigns-as-king!”
And conspired Yehu’ son of Jehoshafat son of Nimshiy to Yoram
Now Yoram was guarding in Ramot-gil’ad
he himself and all Yisrael from the face of Chaza’el king of ‘Aram.
And returned Yehoram the king to heal himself in Yezere’e’l
from the stroke which the ‘Aramiym struck him in his fighting Chaza’el king of ‘Aram
And said Yehu’,
“There this is your soul
do not let come forth an escapee from the city
To walk/go to report in Yizere’e’l.”
And Yehu’ rode-a-chariot
And he went/walked to Yizere’e’l
For Yoram was lying there.
Now ‘Achazyah king of Yehudah went down to see Yoram.
Now the one watching standing on the tower in Yizere’e’l
And he saw the abundance of Yehu’ in his coming
And he said,
“The abundance I am seeing.”
And said Yehoram,
“Take a chariot-driver and send to call them.
And let him say,
‘Is it peace?’”
And he walked/went, the chariot-driver of the horse to call him
And he said,
“Thus says the king, ‘Is it peace?’”
And said Yehu’,
“What to you and to peace?
Turn around to after me.”
And reported the one watching, saying,
“The messenger came to him and he did not return.”
And he set a chariot-driver of the horse, a second one,
And he came to them and he said,
“Thus says the king, ‘Peace.’”
And said Yehu’,
“What to you and to peace?
Turn around to after me.”
And reported the one watching saying,
“He came until to them and he did not return.
And the driving as the driving of Yehu’ son of Nimshiy
For as a maniac he drives.”
And said Yehoram, “Bind-up.”
And he bound up his chariot.
And went forth Yehoram king of Yisrael and ‘Achazeyahu king of Yehudah
each in his chariot.
And they went forth to call Yehu’
And they found him in the portion of Navoth the Yizere’l’liy.
And it was according to the seeing of Yehoram Yehu’
And he said, “Is it peace, Yehu’?”
And he said,
“What peace as long as the prostitutions of ‘Iyzebel your mother
And her sorceries are many?”
Then Yehoram turned around his hands
And he fled and said to ‘Achazyahu
“Deceit, ‘Achazyahu!”
Now Yehu’ filled his hand with a bow
And he struck Yehoram between his arms
And the arrow went forth from his heart
And he knelt down in his chariot.
And he said to Bidqar the officer,
“Carry/lift and throw him in the portion of the field of Navot the Yezere’e’liy
For remember I and you riding as a pair after ‘Achav his father
Now Yahweh carried on him this burden/carrying/lifting.
‘If not the blood of Navot and the blood of his sons I saw last night’ –
declaration of Yahweh –
‘I will finish to you in this portion’ –
declaration of Yahweh.
But now carry/lift [and] thrown him in the portion according to the word of Yahweh.”
Now ‘Achazyah king of Yehudah saw and fled the way of the house of the garden
And pursued after him Yehu’ and said,
“Also him strike to the chariot in the ascent of the sojourner which is Yivle’am.”
And he fled to Megiddo and he died there.
And they drove-him-in-a-chariot, his servants, to Yerushalam
And they buried him in his burial-place with his fathers in the city of David.
Now in the eleventh year to Yoram son of ‘Acav
‘Achazyah reigned-as-king over Yehudah.
And entered Yehu’ to Yizre’e’l
Now ‘Iyzebel heard and she set in paint her eyes
And she made-good her head
And she looked-down away from the window.
Now Yehu’ entered in the gate
And she said,
“Is it peace, Zimriy, the killer of your master?”
And he lifted/carried his face to the window and he said,
“Who is with me? Who?”
And they looked down to him, two or three eunuchs.
And he said,
“Drop her.”
And they dropped her.
And sprinkled from her blood to the wall and to the horses.
And he trampled her.
And he entered and he ate and he drank.
And he said,
“Care for her, please, this female-curse
And bury her for a daughter of a king is she.”
And they went/walked to bury her
And they did not find in her except her skull and her feet and the palms of her hands.
And the returned and reported to him.
And he said,
“Word of Yahweh is this,
Which he spoke by the hand of his servant ‘Eliyyahu the Settler, saying,
‘In the portion of Yizere’e’l the dogs shall eat the flesh of ‘Iyzabel,
And the carcass of ‘Iyzebel [will be] like s*** on the face of the field
In the portion of Yizere’e’l
Which they say not, “This ‘Iyzabel.”’”
