Translation, 2 Kings 13 2017-09-06T23:51:33+06:00

In the twenty-third year to Yo’ash son of ‘Achazyahu king of Yehudah

Reigned-as-king Yeho’achaz son of Yehu’ over Yisrael in Shomron seventeen years.
And he did the evil in the eyes of Yahweh
And the walked after the sins of Yarav’am son of Nevat who caused-Israel-to-sin.
He did not turned aside from them.
And the nose of Yahweh burned in Yisrael
And he gave them in the hand of Chaza’el king of ‘Aram
And in the hand of Son-of-Hadad son of Chaza’el all the days.
And Yeho’achaz fell ill before the face of Yahweh
And heard to him Yahweh
For he saw the oppression of Yisrael
For oppressed them the king of Aram.
And gave Yahweh to Yisrael a savior
And they went forth from under the hand of ‘Aram
And they dwelt, the sons of Israel, in their tents just as formerly three days ago.

Howbeit, they did not turn from the sins of the house of Yarav’am
who caused-Israel-to-sin.
In her he walked and also the ‘Asherah stood in Shomron.
For there did not remain to Yeho’achaz a people,
except fifty horsemen and ten chariots and ten thousand on foot.
For the king of ‘Aram destroyed them
And set them as dust for treading.

Now the remnant of the acts/words of Yeho’achaz and all which he did and his might,
Are they themselves not writings on the scrolls of the things/words of the days of the kings of Yisrael?
And slept Yeho’achaz with his fathers
And they buried him in Shomron.
And reigned-as-king Yo’ash his son in his place.

In the thirty-seventh year to Yo’ash king of Yehudah
Reigned-as-king Yeho’azh son of Yeho’achaz over Yisrael in Shomron sixteen years.
And he did the evil in the eyes of Yahweh
He did not turn back from all the sins of Yarav’am son of Nevat
who caused-Israel-to-sin.
In her he walked.
Now the remnant of the words/deeds of Yo’ash and all which he did
And his might which he fought with ‘Amatz’yah king of Yehudah
Are they themselves not writings on the scrolls of the words/deeds of the days to the kings of Yisrael.
And slept Yo’ash with his fathers.
And Yarav’am sat on his throne.
And Yo’ash was buried in Shomron with the kings of Yisrael.

Now ‘Eliysha’ became ill with the illness which he died in it
And came down to him Yo’ash king of Yisrael
And he wept over his face and said
“My father! My father!
Chariot of Israel and its horseman!”
And said to him ‘Eliysha’
“Take a bow and arrows.”
And he took to him a bow and arrows.
And he said to the king of Yisrael,
“Cause your hand to drive over the bow.”
And he caused his hand to drive.
And set ‘Eliysha’ his hand on the hands of the king.
And he said,
“Open the window eastward.”
And he opened.
And said ‘Eliysha’,
“Shoot.”
And he shot.
And he said,
“Arrow of salvation for Yahweh/
And arrow of salvation on ‘Aram.
For you shall strike ‘Aram in ‘Afeq until it is finished.”
And he said,
“Take the arrows.”
And he took the arrows.
And he said to the king of Yisrael,
“Strike the land.”
And he struck three times and he stood.
And provoked-to-anger at him [was] the man of the ‘Elohim and he said,
“To cause-to-strike four five or six times.
Then you strike ‘Aram until it is finished.
But now three times you shall strike ‘Aram.”

And died ‘Eliysha’ and they buried him.
Now marauding-bands of Moav were entered in the land
in the entrance of the year.
And it was they themselves burying a man
And look! They saw a marauding-band.
And they threw the man in the grave of ‘Eliysha’.
And he walked/went and touched the man on the bones of ‘Eliysha’.
And he lived and arose on his feet.

Now Chaz’ael king of ‘Aram oppressed Yisrael all the days of Yeho’achaz.
And Yahweh was gracious to them
And he felt compassion for them
And he faced to them on account of his covenant with ‘Avraham, Yitzchaq, and Ya’aqov.
And he was not willing to ruin them
And he did not throw them from over his face until now.
And died Chaza’el king of ‘Aram.
And reigned-as-king Son-of-Hadad his son in his place.
And slept Yeho’ash son of Yeho’achaz
And the took cities from the hand of Son-of-Hadad son of Chaza’el
Which he took from the hand of Yeho’achaz his father in battle.
Three times Yo’ash struck him
And he returned the cities of Israel.
