I Am Wonderfully Made
(7/19)

praise you, for I am awesomely and wonderfully. (Psalm 139:14)

We live in a God-filled world. God’s loving energy moves through our cells as well as our souls. Our body-mind-spirit, our whole being, is awesome – our immune system, our beating hearts, our senses, and creativity, our generosity and compassion. We truly are a wonder.
When I studied with the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formative in Washington DC, I learned a chant that goes:

I thank you God
For the wonder
Of my being.

You can change the chant to go:

I thank you God
For the wonder
Of all being.

Created in God’s image, the simplest processes of our lives are incredible. We can give thanks for our very lives. In honoring ourselves, we honor others. We see the divine in others as we do so in ourselves, and out of that affirmation of our wonder of our being, we will seek justice for all God’s children.

I thank you, God, for the wonder of my being. I give thanks for my life. I give thanks for the gifts I receive and the gifts of others. Let me treat others as God’s beloved and seek justice in all things. Amen.
