Exhausted, Burned Out and Depressed

Exhausted, Burned Out and Depressed December 8, 2018

There are times when you think the weight of the world is sucking the very life out of you. So it is not surprising even as my child you feel exhausted, burned out and depressed while you are doing my will. The truth however you are trying to do my will in your own strength without being aware of it.

Doing my will under your own power and effort is impossible. As a result of carrying the load on your own, you fall beneath the weight of the world overwhelmed and exhausted. (You need to walk in my presence)

The reality is you think you are doing my will, but you are sadly mistaken. You are trying to follow me through your own self-effort. You do your best to pick up the cross to follow me, but instead of confidently trusting in me with your whole heart you question my love. So when you’re exhausted suffering burnout, it is a clear indication you’re attempting to handle everything in your own power. When you are emotionally spent it lets you realize without my help, you will never have lasting peace.

Trust me with the plans I have for your life. You cannot be entirely surrendered to me if part of you still lives. I use the burnout and exhaustion you feel to reveal your insufficiencies, so you might turn and trust me. I’m always calling you and encouraging you to let go and have faith in me. I know it’s your nature to fight to stay in control, but it creates inner chaos and suffering. I’m inviting you to let me carry the load you are unable to handle. Burnout and exhaustion are powerful reminders your self-sufficiency is bankrupt in my kingdom. Come to me, and let me carry your load and I will give you peace and rest.

Scripture:

but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 NIV

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5 NIV
