As a Jewish Mother in 2024, I Just Can’t Even… March 7, 2024

It’s 2024 and I’m a Jewish, Israeli American wife and mother of two growing boys.

It’s difficult for me to verbalize the fear and frustration that I feel on a day-to-day basis.

The constant headlines of blatant antisemitism – in universities, government buildings, on display in city streets, and blasted on social media are unbearable.

The fact that there are Jewish people in America being targeted and killed for being Jewish.

I. just. can’t. even.

Understand how this is happening in 2024, in America.

Comprehend that this hatred is alive and permeating in modern, civilized and educated cities and communities.

Wonder how to protect myself and my family.

Contemplate a future in a civil society where this sort of hatred of Jewish people is accepted and perpetuated.

Fathom that it feels unsafe to be Jewish anywhere. Even in America. In 2024.

Hope.  It’s difficult to hold on to hope when the present is so bleak.
