Quoting Quiverfull: Part 5 – Dancing With the Devil

Quoting Quiverfull: Part 5 – Dancing With the Devil October 16, 2014

by Michael Pearl of No Greater Joy – When the Worst Happens

amishDelving once again into the notions of sin Michael Pearl holds about normal childhood explorations of their bodies.

Repeat Offenders

If a nine-year-old is a repeat offender and has on more than one occasion tried to see the private members of another boy or girl, it is obvious that he has a chronic problem. Mark him to your children, by discussing the evil of his ways. Let your children see an attitude of disgust on the one hand and compassion and pity on the other. During your family worship time and in your bedtime prayers, pray for the offender’s lost soul.

Never allow your children to play with or even talk to the child. It won’t do any good to change churches. Kids everywhere are offenders. Where you are now, at the very least, you have identified one offender. There are others in the same group—in any group, without exception.

Deb spotted two post-puberty Amish girls in the creek feeling each other. When she confronted them they confessed that several of the girls carried on in such a manner in the two-stall privy at the one-room schoolhouse. When Deb had them confess to their parents, the parents were so uncomfortable discussing it that they dismissed her and buried the whole thing with silence. The girls appear to have grown up to be “normal,” except one.

Odd, nothing explained or said in the full article on how the one Amish girl wasn’t ‘normal’. Wonder what Michael considers not ‘normal’?

I’m going to go with normal being: heterosexual, married young and submissive to your husband.

  • ConcepcionImmaculadaPantalones

And exactly why was Debi leering at the two Amish girls? Maybe Debi should mind her own business instead of peeping.

  • Is he…praying…for the lost soul….of a nine year old?

I think my brain just imploded.

  • Saraquill

Why would the parents of the two girls take Debi, a stranger, seriously?

  • I’m surprised he hasn’t suggested wearing mittens to bed, Ben-Gay on the privates or female circumcision; all of which were common “cures” during the late 19th century. MP would’ve felt right at home in the Victorian era.

  • The were probably more embarrassed that a complete stranger had the sheer gall to barge into their daughters’ private business. The Amish, while conservative, are hardly prudes, at least not by Pearl standards.

    Also, Graham crackers

  • Suzy’s Mamma

The “abnormal” wayward Amish girl probably decided to get an education and a job or some other unthinkable thing like that.

    /start sarcasm
Since we’re “dancing with the devil” and the context of this example involved two girls and undisclosed others. My best guess is the ‘abnormal’ girl probably went to college outside her community, was seduced by eeeeevil lesbians and feminists and thinks she’s people.

So, a family denying their children a real education or beating them black and blue, just hunky-dory, but a couple of girls playing “doctor” in a creek, call out the militia! Yes, nothing matters but obedience to authority. And sex. Control of any expression of sex. Preventing any kind of sex that Mr. Pearl finds distasteful. Sex. Sex and obedience. I understand now.

Yeah, that’s a healthy standard to live by. (End sarcasm.)

  • Nightshade

But Graham crackers are good. S’mores…yumm!

  • Catherine

Well, I think there are chapters we haven’t gotten to yet…

Yet another example of the crazy-ass Pearls seeing Horrible Deviance in normal childhood development.

  • B.A.

Unfortunately, female circumcision is still done in some third-world countries. Pearl would feel right at home in those countries, especially with women having no rights, girls being discouraged from getting an education, etc.

  • B.A.

    If that’s “normal”,then I’m glad I’m abnormal! :-p

  • Saraquill

    Don’t forget Kellogg corn flakes.

  • Freebird

She probably moved into a duplex.

  • Joy

Debi had no business forcing those two Amish girls to “confess” to their parents. Also, I believe the story is a lie – those girls would never have voluntarily told her what was going on in the bathroom. Amish people are extremely private when it comes to sex as it is rarely discussed. Most likely, that explains why the two girls were doing what they were doing – they had no other way to learn about sex. The Amish also would never listen to an English woman, because A) she’s English, and B) she’s a woman. (Amish people refer to non-Amish people as “English”.) There are some beliefs that would be common between Quiverfull and some Amish communities (patriarchy, large families, distinct styles of “modest” dress).

Restoring the social mores of the Antebellum South IS the unstated goal of the CPM. Their founding father is a disgruntled Civil War chaplain named R. L. Dabney.

So “Victorian Era” is pretty close. But the REAL goal is to wipe out the Enlightenment, and all its pesky egalitarianism, individual rationalism and rejection of theocracy.

Even though the United States itself is a product of the Eighteenth Century Enlightenment, in spirit as well as timing.

I don’t believe this is any more than a piece of fiction created by the Pearls to set themselves up as the experts. There are too many issues that make it unbelievable, which seems to be a pattern with them.

  • ConcepcionImmaculadaPantalones

…and immediately adopted a dozen or so cats!

What’s so bad about a duplex and an endless number of cats that will pile on top of you while you sleep? As long as none of those cats get any crazy ideas about stealing your breath, everything should work out fine.

Didn’t doctors help relieve women of their “nervous hysteria” around the same time?

Not that either Pearl perv parent would ever deign to acknowledge such a terrible sinful thing…going to a doctor…the horror! Even if you have Ebola, you should stay home and pray while treating yourself with herbs. Don’t worry about being around other people, if God wants you and your family to die from Ebola, it’s going to happen so might as well just get it over and done with.

***No actual Ebola virus has been transmitted in this comment; Ebola is a serious illness and anyone who suspects they may have been exposed to Ebola should contact their local public health and safety department to determine where you should go for medical care. Do not get on a plane or engage in activities which will potentially bring you into contact with other people. Create a list of any people and locations that you have been around during the days leading up to exhibiting physical symptoms. If you need clarification on what the symptoms of Ebola are, please visit the CDC website or contact the CDC by phone.

$5 says Debi would watch one secular woman adjusting another’s tag to not stick out at the neck and think they were feeling each other up. She and Michael are that obsessed with sex. And with judging others.

  • What was Debi doing? In other words, the girls who were experimenting grew up ‘normal’ repressed heterosexual and one became a lesbian. I guess that wasn’t normal. So, Debi is a voyeur? Likes to watch girls playing with one another?

  • Suzanne Harper Titkemeyer

Thanks for making me laugh about Ebola! I’ve been listening to my mother verklempting about it for days now.

  • ConcepcionImmaculadaPantalones

    No problem!

I’ve been running into people talking about Ebola on nearly every board and site that I read/comment on…it’s gotten a bit out of hand when you’re suddenly finding yourself neck deep in commentary from people who are blaming Obama for Ebola. The castle has been overrun, there’s no use in trying to defend it any longer, it’s time to run and live to fight another day.

That’s what’s wrong with this country – berserker morons have stormed the rational defense walls.

I was trying to think of what would horrify the Pearls the most. I came up with pro-choice childfree atheist lesbian career woman. 😀
