Quoting Quiverfull: Single Girls Get To Be ‘Holy’? February 25, 2015

Editor’s note: Whenever I run across ladies that say use your single years to be holy and once you marry you must be serving and pleasing your husbands and children I just want to ask them why they limit themselves to such teeny tiny little boxes for their life plans. Many of the women in the Bible held up as examples didn’t lead such scripted lives in a limited sphere so why do that to yourself? Quiverfull theology sets you up for this life of being less than your talents and desires.

Here is what the Bible says about being a single girl: “There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married cares for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. ” 1 Corinthians 7:34 KJV

When we are single our main focus is to be on serving the Lord. And then, when we get married God wants our focus to be on serving and pleasing our husbands and taking care of our children because that serves and please Him as well!

QUOTING QUIVERFULL is a regular feature of NLQ – we present the actual words of noted Quiverfull leaders and ask our readers: What do you think? Agree? Disagree? This is the place to state your opinion. Please, let’s keep it respectful – but at the same time, we encourage readers to examine the ideas of Quiverfull and Spiritual Abuse honestly and thoughtfully.
