If there’s one thing you can count on with networks like The Learning Channel is that they will not kill off the golden geese that fund the network, not even when children are sexually molested or one of the stars is exposed as a hypocrite. They waited a long time to cancel ’19 Kids and Counting’ starring the Duggar family, indicating that they were mostly waiting for the world to forget their outrage over Josh Duggar molesting his sisters, not that they had any real concern for the victims or the family. Yesterday it came out that TLC is once again putting the Duggar family back on television.
An AP news report says that there will be a series of specials following the two married Duggar daughters, Jill Duggar Dillard on her mission trip in Central America and Jessa Duggar Seewald preparing for the birth of her first child. There will be no sign of Josh Duggar, now in rehab for his sexual transgressions and pornography addiction. Here’s what the Associated Press had to say:
“What we will be following in these specials is Jessa preparing for her first child,” TLC Executive Vice President and General Manager Nancy Daniels told The Associated Press, “and we’ll be watching Jill preparing to make a major move to Central America with her family, which we know is something our audience will be interested in.”
The project, Daniels said, came together quickly “after talking with the girls and understanding that this was something they wanted to do.
“We know that our audience is really excited about what’s been going on with Jill and Jessa as they move into young adulthood,” said Daniels. “And now they’re both at the precipice of big changes. With what was happening in their lives in the next few months, it felt like now is the time (for the specials), and we got going pretty quickly.”
What do you think of this news? Should they continue featuring any Duggar children on television, or is it time to hang up the very damaged brand?
On a different subject involving the Duggars, looking at the flight plans on file with the FAA it looks like someone was at Bill Gothard’s ATI Alert Academy in Big Sandy. This was mere days before several programs started at Alert, which makes one wonder which Duggar child was dropped off for the new semester?
