Answering ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’ – Helping A Friend In Her Faith? February 7, 2016

AnsweringAnother installment of giving better answers to the questions asked at Debi Pearl’s site message board for the book ‘Preparing To Be A Help Meet’. Many young ladies ask questions on all sorts of different subjects brought up by the book. There was just one big problem, many of the answers stray into either the outright bad and emotionally unhealthy to dangerous. Yes, typical Debi Pearl borderline abusive. Here’s what we’re going to be doing here at NLQ. Every week, once or twice a week, I’ll be posting up one of the questions from the message board and ask you, our readers, to answer that poor soul’s question in a way that is logical, OKrational and the best possible solution, in other words 180 degree turn from Debi and friends answers. As always all spelling and grammar in the posting is unchanged from the original author.

Onto today’s question:

Helping a friend in her faith?

Hi guys, I have made a new friend at my college. She has been I a bad relationship in the past (I don’t know all the details) and she also says that she has done some bad things in the past (drinking, I don’t think sex but I’m not absolutely positive). She has turned to the Lord(pretty recently but idk when) and is really excited and seems to really love the Lord. Anyway, I felt God’s voice telling me to give her PTBHM, which I did, and I told her about PTNHM for her boyfriend (they go to church together and she says that she really loves him). She is a beautiful, sweet girl (we both have the same goal for life: Get married to the right guy, and have babies and be a mommy!) Do you guys have any suggestions/tips that would help me help her grow in her relationship with the Lord? I feel like I need to do something to help her as a sister in Christ.

The books she’s referencing are PTBHM – Preparing To Be A Help Meet and PTNHM – think she means Created To Need A Help Meet. The only suggestion she got was to send her friend a Bible verse of the day. Is that really the best way to help out a friend?
