Quoting Quiverfull: Woman Don’t Tell ME What to Do? May 5, 2016

quotingquiverfullby Kirk Cameron at Christian Today – Kirk Cameron Shares Secret to Happy Marriage

Editor’s note: This has been blowing up all over the internet and entertainment websites for the last week. Initially I wasn’t even going to share this because it’s just such a milder version of the complementarian theology pushed by the Quiverfull movement. It feels almost ‘liberal’ to say that husbands should not tell their wives to submit. It’s far less shocking and disturbing than anything we’ve seen from the Campbells or the Pearls. But here it is. What do you think?

Cameron said husbands are supposed “to love their wives and not to tell their wives that they need to submit to them.” However, wives must respond in kind by respecting their husbands and following their lead.

“Wives are to honour and respect and follow their husbands’ lead, not to tell their husband how he ought to be a better husband,” Cameron continued. “When each person gets their part right, regardless of how their spouse is treating them, there is hope for real change in their marriage.”

QUOTING QUIVERFULL is a regular feature of NLQ – we present the actual words of noted Quiverfull leaders, cultural enforcers and those that seek to keep women submitted to men and ask our readers: What do you think? Agree? Disagree? This is the place to state your opinion. Please, let’s keep it respectful – but at the same time, we encourage readers to examine the ideas of Quiverfull and Spiritual Abuse honestly and thoughtfully.
