NLQ Question of the Week: What is Behind All the Judging?

NLQ Question of the Week: What is Behind All the Judging? July 15, 2016

QuestionoftheweekThis is a new series we have started running on Thursdays. Examining some of the questions involving long held Quiverfull theology and life.

Ran across a photo this morning that asks about judging others and what are the real motives or reasons why it occurs. And boy, does it occur in the church. Just one quick gander through the quiverfull blogger blogosphere and you see people, churches, places, ideas, politicians, governments and more meted out harsh judgement and put into a near tidy box (usually filled with hate), categorized and dismissed as lacking.

It’s something we’ve encountered again and again in the writings of those like Nancy Campbell and Michael Pearl, this insistance that judging others is Biblical and Godly, even as the words of Jesus say ‘Judge not, lest ye be judged.’ From here it looks like an enormous disconnect between Jesus and his so-called followers.

What is driving this? Is it lack of critical thinking? Hive mind? Intellectual laziness? Are differences that threatening to your world view? Is Jung right?
