Quoting Quiverfull: Girls Should Be Meek, Mild and QUIET!? July 27, 2016

quotingquiverfullby Lori Alexander from Always Learning – Terrible Advice For Girls

Editor’s note: Lori is reacting to a screen shot going around Facebook from Instagram that I have posted below. The advice given is pretty decent because it advises girls to have healthy boundaries, to say no when the situation warrants it, to get messy, dirty, loud, and to have some fun in this life. All the things that clearly would make Lori Alexander and all the other good female cultural enforcers lose their freaking minds. Cannot have girls speaking their minds, laughing loudly or wearing their hair as they please now can we?

If you are ready for more of Lori Alexander take a look at the theological Twister she’s playing in a piece where the main point seems to be don’t keep asking God to forgive you for your sins, simply smile and say ‘thank you for forgiving my sins.’  That seems just really arrogant from here. Did not even Jesus in his prayer that came to be known as the Lord’s Prayer say ‘Forgive us our sins as we forgiven those that sin against us’? Super word salad, poorly written and reasoned out, too much so to pick a few passages of to share here – Continually Asking God For Forgiveness

Let me tell you what girls should be taught instead.
Advice for girls: be quiet and discreet and love others more than yourself. Start saying “I’m sorry” and stop saying “because I said so.” Say “yes” to those in need and say “can I help you?” Stop taking selfies and laugh at jokes that are decent and silly. Be kind and speak truth and wear your hair to please the LORD. Help out other girls and be vocal about the good and the lovely. Enjoy being soft and feminine and apologize quickly when wrong. Don’t give away your purity to anyone until you are married.
QUOTING QUIVERFULL is a regular feature of NLQ – we present the actual words of noted Quiverfull leaders, cultural enforcers and those that seek to keep women submitted to men and ask our readers: What do you think? Agree? Disagree? This is the place to state your opinion. Please, let’s keep it respectful – but at the same time, we encourage readers to examine the ideas of Quiverfull and Spiritual Abuse honestly and thoughtfully.
