Quoting Quiverfull: Cheerfulness Wins Over Husbands and Children From Sin? August 17, 2016

quotingquiverfullby Lori Anderson from Always Learning – Cheerful Holiness is the Most Forcible of Sermons

Editor’s note: Most of the post on Lori’s  blog is her copying and pasting the words of Charles Spurgeon, with the exception of the last paragraph of her applying his words to the idea of winning over a ‘disobedient husband’ and others. Yeah, like controlling your facial expressions and words has ever manipulated anyone into repenting from whatever imaginary ‘sins’ these folks can think up. Nowhere in the Spurgeon quote does it say that this is how you win over ‘disobedient’ relatives. She’s extrapolating without any evidence again.

If you are trying to win a disobedient husband, child, relative, or friend, cheerful holiness is the best way to do it! If you are cheerful, but not holy, you may win them to yourself, but not to the Lord. If you are holy, but not cheerful, you most likely won’t win anyone to yourself or to the Lord, but instead will be a turn off! Who wants to be a Christian if it were all holiness, but no joy? {My two cents!}

QUOTING QUIVERFULL is a regular feature of NLQ – we present the actual words of noted Quiverfull leaders, cultural enforcers and those that seek to keep women submitted to men and ask our readers: What do you think? Agree? Disagree? This is the place to state your opinion. Please, let’s keep it respectful – but at the same time, we encourage readers to examine the ideas of Quiverfull and Spiritual Abuse honestly and thoughtfully.

    Sorry, but even cheerful Christians are turn offs when they try to “win” people to their cult.

    ‘If you are holy, but not cheerful, you most likely won’t win anyone to yourself or to the Lord, but instead will be a turn off! Who wants to be a Christian if it were all holiness, but no joy?’ Quick, someone tell Steven Anderson, I think he missed the memo!
