Quoting Quiverfull: Women Must Submit Because Satan?

Quoting Quiverfull: Women Must Submit Because Satan? August 1, 2016

quotingquiverfullby Lori Alexander from Always Learning – Were the Women of Old Submissive?

Editor’s note: So now it’s not just evil feminism to blame, it’s women and Satan? The rest women struggle with being cheerfully submissive is not because of sin, it’s because it’s not at all how we were designed to behave. It’s faking it, lying on a grand scale. How is living a lie a righteous Godly thing?

The picture in our minds that we get about life during the Leave It to Beaver and FatherKnows Best days is that all women must have been gentle, kind, modest, submissive to their husbands and love being keepers at home but was this really the case? No, women have always struggled with being cheerfully submissive and content being at home or else the Bible wouldn’t have older women teaching younger women these things. Yes, there are some personalities that are more the pleasing types who don’t fight and argue to get their way, but they are far and few between. All of this disobedience happened once sin entered the world and it is what we are fighting against. We may think it is only feminism but it is not.
Satan entered the world and became the prince of the power of the air when Eve wrested control from Adam and dashed all of civilization into chaos. Even most of the “great” women of old that we read about in the Old Testament weren’t examples of godly womanhood at times. Sarah wanted her husband to sleep with another woman in order to get a baby, thus going against God’s promise to her and Abraham’s will.
QUOTING QUIVERFULL is a regular feature of NLQ – we present the actual words of noted Quiverfull leaders, cultural enforcers and those that seek to keep women submitted to men and ask our readers: What do you think? Agree? Disagree? This is the place to state your opinion. Please, let’s keep it respectful – but at the same time, we encourage readers to examine the ideas of Quiverfull and Spiritual Abuse honestly and thoughtfully.

Seriously? Lori just complained that women the Bible praises AREN’T godly women? Seriously?

Honey, when your God’s own word isn’t as good enough for you, you need to rethink your religion.

  • pagankitty

At first I was shocked that she admitted that feminism wasn’t the root of all evil and that even women in the Bible didn’t live up to her standards. But then I realized so that she could dismiss it with a “none of that matters; you still must do exactly what I say and submit”

  • SAO

Earth to Lori, your husband isn’t God. Having your own opinion isn’t sin.

Ah, but those women hadn’t used the super-secret, magical formula that Ms Alexander discovered. If she had lived in Biblical times, they could have done everything her way…
Lori Alexander reminds me of Betty Bowers. Only she takes what she says way too seriously.

UGH! This is the kind of “teaching” that used to make me feel even worse about myself than I already did because of the abuse I suffered as a child. You are damned if you do, damned if you don’t…There is just no time for ever having peace and being content.

Ah, yes…Quiverfull. the eminent Brock R. Henderson, who used to haunt MMFA, SPLC, and other liberal websites in his endless quest to cyberstalk people and gain attention, was convinced that he could end his life of celibacy by hiring a wife from Quiverfull.
The only problems he faced were:
    1. He doesn’t have a job (at age 32)
    2. He doesn’t have a college degree (at age 32)
    3. He lives in his apartment off of SSI disability (at age 32)
    4. Does so while denouncing the government that feeds him on the internet (at age 32)
    5. Is a proud “Traditionalist Catholic,” (at age 32) which means the very Fundamentalist Protestant Quiverfull con men regard him as Satanic (and he should regard Quiverfull as Satanic in return).
Not to worry — having failed at everything else in life, Mr. Henderson is committed now to celibacy. Thank goodness…the world doesn’t need more people like him…

She almost makes it sound like it was Eve that made Satan evil… honestly! Otherwise, same old, same old, yawn.

  • BlueVibe

Sounds like we need Satan to step in and get things done when *other people* are being all navel-gazing and slacktivist.

“when Eve wrested control from Adam and dashed all of civilization into chaos.”
Where do we find that “wresting” match in Genesis? I read that Satan spoke to Eve, she tried the fruit and gave it to Adam, who was with her.

“Sarah wanted her husband to sleep with another woman in order to get a
baby, thus going against God’s promise to her and Abraham’s will.”
Yup, and Abraham went along with it. I know this is all about how ungodly women have always been, but Abraham wasn’t some super-godly man either. The man hid behind his wife in a couple occasions, having her lie and say she was his sister, which landed her in two men’s harems. Some brave man, Abram was.
