Quoting Quiverfull: Chastity Belts?

Quoting Quiverfull: Chastity Belts? September 16, 2016

quotingquiverfullby Larry Solomon from Biblical Gender Roles – Is it Wrong For My Christian Husband to Make Me Wear a Chastity Belt? not linking directly but this is the top article on Biblical Gender Roles.com if you must read.

Editor’s note This quoted piece is not written by Larry but by a woman writing to him for advice on the Biblicalness of  chastity belts. In the unquoted bits Larry comes out that he considers chastity belts a sin and no woman should wear on, no matter how much she may want to wear it. He goes on to say masturbation is no sin either. Has anyone heard anything else about the wearing of chastity belts in the CPM?

“I wanted to give you an update.  I have not been a fan of wearing the belt and shield, but I see the wisdom in it.  Since early July, Jim has had me wear it each day.  It is amazing to me how much I had been sinning by consciously or unconsciously gratifying myself.  Obviously, the belt prevents me from using my fingers or an object.

But, I found out that I had been sitting and leaning against things to evoke that same stimulus without realizing it—but the shield prevents that.  For example, when in the kitchen waiting on something to bake, I would stand on one leg and draping my other leg over a bar stool in the kitchen.  With the belt/shield on, I suddenly realized that I was, passively, doing this to give some light pleasure to myself.   Because, the belt/shield prevents this, I realized that I had formerly been doing this as a way of comfort, and that this posture made no other sense.”

I read the entire thing, and I don’t get Larry on this one-not that he ever makes much sense! But in this case particularly he makes a big deal of a chastity belt interfering with free will and introducing the element of bondage. What the hell does he think he’s been advocating for women in everything else he says??! He doesn’t think total submission to a man is bondage, or messing with her free will? Apparently the line for him is actual, literal, hold her down and physically do what you want with her. And how exactly is it ‘bondage’ if she wants to wear it, and can remove it any time she chooses? Again I think it’s just ‘ewwww, that’s icky, now let’s see if I can come up with a biblical justification for thinking it’s icky.’

And of course the wife deciding whether she wants to wear one is out of the question, being in bondage…errrr, submission to her man…

  • persephone

Chastity belts were imagined by Victorians in their freaky fetish play. Not surprising some CPM loser wants his wife to wear one.

  • paganheart

Sorry, not buying that this is a really real letter. It reads like a laughably bad outtake from Literotica or even Penthouse Forum. (And if Larry couldn’t figure that out for himself, he’s dumber than he looks…or writes.)

  • Suzanne Harper Titkemeyer

That could be. I know several people who’ve been trolling Larry relentlessly for some time now and he’s never caught on.

  • RetroPam

I, too, thought that, at the very least, some erotic fantasy had been included for effect.

  • Astrin Ymris

I read somewhere that even during the Middle Ages, chastity belts were a myth.

  • persephone

    It’s the old “if I like it, it’s a kink, otherwise it’s a perversion.”

  • persephone

Victorian sex play. Which just goes to show that if you make label something bad and evil, people who engage in it will push the envelope.

  • bekabot

“If I belong to it, it’s a religion, but if not, it’s a cult.”

  • Nightshade

    Exactly!

  • Petticoat Philosopher

I kind of wonder how they could be anything but a myth–I mean…did you ask for the key every time you needed to pee? What about menstruation?

  • ConcepcionImmaculadaPantalones

Why they had to ‘hold it’ until the keyholder granted them permission to pee!

I don’t know about the menstruation part, the only people I know who have worn chastity belts (well that’s sort of what they are…) are men.

  • Saraquill

I saw sketches of those things. There are holes to allow for bodily functions, but said holes are ringed with saw teeth.

  • texassa

    These people are seriously insane.
