The Future of Pagan Media

The Future of Pagan Media

We’re less than a month away from a new calendar year. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about my vision for the Pagan portal here at Patheos: how it was, how it changed, and what it needs to be. In a way, 2011 has been a grand experiment, not just here, but all across Pagan media. Our media landscape is changing. There are new expectations, new projects and new understanding of what the needs of both our media and our community are.

The internet has always been a catalyst for change in our communities, from the very first Pagan list, on what? Usenet? Those very first html files that floated around and ended up on Sacred Texts Archive. The ability to network, to speak to Pagans all over the world without having to haul your butt across country to a festival. The ability to have sources of news and opinion with a decidedly Pagan perspective.

So as I try to craft my vision for what pagan media can do in the coming year, I want to hear your vision. What is important to you? What do you think we can accomplish? What should we focus on?

So imagine with me for a minute. Imagine we have all the people, the training, the equipment and the funding to accomplish whatever we desire.

What should the future of Pagan media be?
