I thought surely my readers were tired of these, but apparently not. The sun is reaching his zenith, the days are long, and the nights are warm. These are busy days!
Tomorrow I will be hosting two different hangouts. One to discuss Sarah Whedon’s new e-book Birth of the Labyrinth Path, and one to discuss the sun in Pagan practice.
On Patheos Pagan today there is Steven Abell’s first-hand account of Trothmoot, addressing the rumors that have been floating around. Gus diZerega discusses the Dominionism movement. P. Sufenas Virius Lupus, one of the sweetest people I know, explains why he is some people’s worst nightmare. Aidan Kelly reminds us that all religions were once new. Jason Mankey sparks some great discussion over gods both horned and antlered. Kris Bradley shares a simple Solstice ritual the whole family can enjoy!
And I? Well I am once more crafting a sunny playlist to honor the sun in all his glory. I think I’ll keep this one more upbeat, to get you dancing and embodying some of that solar energy. Have a fantastic solstice!
13. Katrina and the Waves – Walking On Sunshine
A great song to celebrate summer! Crank it up and dance!
12. Johnny Cash & June Carter-Cash – Your Are My Sunshine
My nephew used to sing this with a high-pitched Happeeeeeeeeeeeeee that was just adorable.
11. Stevie Wonder – You Are The Sunshine Of My Life
If you’re not dancing by now then you are grumpier than I am!
10. Alan Rickman & Juliet Stevenson – The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore
Great song and fantastic movie.

The only thing better than this song is dead animal on his head.

Not only has he shaved his beard, but his sound seems to be evolving.

This song’s only redeeming quality is it’s catchy hook.
6. Aerosmith – Sunshine
Does Joe ever wear a shirt?

One of the best musicals ever…
4. Donovan – Sunshine Superman
Groovy, baby…
3. Aqualung – Brighter Than Sunshine
I had completely forgotten about this song…
2. The Beatles – Good Day Sunshine
I secretly believe the boys from Liverpool must have been sun worshippers for all the songs they wrote about it.
1. Marvin Gaye – Sunny
Marvin’s voice has such a great golden groove.
