Sometimes it’s hard to figure out what to write for this blog. So much is going on in the world. There is so much I could draw attention to or draw out into discussion. Sometimes I think I should be more newsy, but I don’t really have any desire to be a “poor man’s” The Wild Hunt. Jason and the PNC folks do news much better than I do. I’ve been using this season between Hallows and Yule to do... Read more

Yesterday I woke up, did the requisite morning ritual of stretching, yawning and hygiene, and then in something atrocious-looking but comfortable I planted myself before my laptop to begin my day. Except I didn’t stay there. In a strange turn of events, I ended up on television. Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasting has a program called Soul Stories, and an initiate of Grove of Phoenix Rising was going to be on the program with her mother. Unfortunately, her mother fell ill and... Read more

Last night I was chatting with a friend about divorce. We talked about what a difficult process it was to go through, how it affects your subsequent relationships and the “rebound relationship.” Suddenly a whole flood of memories came back, and I couldn’t sleep as the ghosts of the past came to visit. You see, my first post-divorce “rebound relationship” was one of the most profound experiences of my life, and one of the most shameful. Because I totally, inexcusably,... Read more

Peter Dybing Goes A-Roving Pagan Road Trip – 365 Days Riding With A Goddess Over the last year as First Officer for Covenant of the Goddess I learned much, became aware of many issues within the Pagan community and made many new friends. This experience has led me to a desire to get to know the wider Pagan community better. With this in mind it is my plan to travel the nation in 2012 and meet as many members of... Read more

Today I sent someone a humorous e-mail about blogging. Then I realized the person I sent it to was a blogger and I called to apologize and assure them the joke wasn’t a dig at their blog. When mercury is in retrograde you can’t be too careful. Also today, I had one of those weird e-mail exchanges with someone where you’re not entirely certain if they understood what you thought you rather clearly said. You say something like “I’ll have... Read more

I’ve been watching the fall-out from the Halloran piece on The Village Voice since it was published. Every time I thought I had something to say about it, I would notice something else that would make me pause and cogitate. Straight up, I find Thrasher’s wanton and casual bashing of Pagan religions offensive. It’s unnecessary for this story and the image of a drunken lout staggering over a goat’s bloody corpse is ridiculous. (The artist refused to comment when I... Read more

Congratulations to PayPal for winning Top Scrooge 2012. Regretsy, possibly one of the most deliciously twisted web sites around (which means I LOVE them), decided to help out poor folks this holiday season. Because our economy sucks and there are lots of poor folks who are hurting right now. However, PayPal arbitrarily decided to not merely shut down their charitable actions, but freeze ALL of their accounts for 6 months and is insisting all the donations be refunded. Of course,... Read more

I love Faunalia. Perhaps it’s because as a young girl, like most young girls, I completely gave my heart to Mr. Tumnus. The goat ears are truly the only reason I find James McAvoy attractive. His sister-wife, Bona Dea, Fauna, the good Goddess, I came to love through the writings of Colleen McCullough. The image of the matrons of Rome preparing her ancient and secret rites captured my imagination. It is considered bad luck to mention her name aloud, at... Read more

Every once in awhile I try to come up with a list of things I like about other religions. This time, I’m going to try a non-religion, and hopefully it goes better than the Scientology post. [You can find all the 13 Things posts here.] As you can imagine, the language and concepts in the following videos might offend. Click at your own risk. 13. Tim Minchin Hilarious. 12. Stephen Fry Lovely man. He makes me want to be a... Read more

You have permission to be human. You have permission to breathe. You have permission to act natural. You have permission to accept yourself. You have permission to love who you were born to be. Many people describe finding Paganism as “coming home.” Suddenly, something in you that was dark and obscure has a light shined on it and you say “Oh! That’s who I am!” You can label what it is that you are. You can put a name on... Read more
