Not too long ago I watched Julie & Julia and loved it. Like the saying goes “Nothin’ says lovin’ like somethin’ from the coven!” Which is why I’m excited so many Kitchen Witches have taken to Youtube. So here’s a few videos to make you nice and hungry! Read more

I’ve spent the past several years of Pagan life feeling superior about Lent. This is also how I felt growing up fundamentalist Protestant. The Bible said nothing about Lent. So we didn’t do Lent. I’d see my Catholic friends giving up things they enjoyed, like chocolate or French fries. And I wouldn’t taunt them about it, but I did not see the point. You like chocolate, eat chocolate. What’s the problem? As a Pagan, I felt much more in tune... Read more

I’m not an Age of Aquarius person. I am not Atlantis and Light. I view myself as rather earthy and more concerned with cabbages than chakras. Yet even I feel something in the air. Protests, revolts and unrest fill the news. Everything feels antsy. As one friend told me, they honestly feel like Phil Collin’s “In the Air Tonight” fits the current atmosphere. It’s not just Egypt and Libya, or Wisconsin and Ohio. It’s in our very hearts. That Imbolc... Read more

The time of Ostara will soon be upon us, and fellow Pantheon writer Galina Krasskova’s latest article, and a recent shopping expedition at both World Market and Etsy… and well I suppose its understandable that I now have Ostara firmly on my brain. I’ve purchased this year’s pysanky eggs used to decorate my altar, and then at the conclusion of my Ostara observances, I’ll burn the eggs in offering. I’m hoping my kindred gets together to make some as well,... Read more

There was recently a large conversation regarding people being turned away from rituals at Pantheacon due to gender.  As a man who was ineligible for 3 different women only rituals, my only complaint was the lack of clarity regarding requisites for attendance. I intuited that the specific ritual Thorn mentioned in Duality and Diversity: Gender at Pantheacon was women only.   You rarely see AMAZONS hold a Skyclad, “ecstatic, undulating, life-affirming ritual in honor of Lilith”… and assume that men are... Read more

I was driving around my little town today and I saw that several houses already have decorations up for St. Patrick’s Day, which in the US is about two weeks away. I usually forget all about this “holiday,” and I certainly don’t celebrate it, but this time, seeing the shamrocks and the green paper garlands festooning my neighbor’s home, I decided to sit down and write a little bit about why. I realize that for many people, St. Patrick’s Day... Read more

PNC-Minnesota recently did a three part feature on the Temple of the River. Fantastic series and of interest to anyone looking to create infrastructure for their faith community. The priest of that temple, Drew Jacob, also keeps a blog: Rogue Priest. I’ve been perusing it over the past few days and I’m impressed. He talks about very old Pagan ideals in a fresh way. Two things he talks about are Fame and The Heroic Life, which are very related concepts.... Read more

Sounds like a bad B movie, doesn’t it? I had planned to write a post today about Heroic values and someone who is embracing those values to change their life. It was a story of hope, inspiration and the good things that people on the liminal edges of Paganism are doing. Well, you’re getting that tomorrow, because I clicked onto Facebook today to find Christian Day has weighed in on the Charlie Sheen meltdown with that paragon of journalism: TMZ.... Read more

I thought today would focus on CAYA’s response to the transgender debate, but I just wasn’t feeling it. A co-worker suggested something on Gaddafi and Charlie Sheen as examples of men melting down, but wasn’t really feeling that either. The green goo is leaving my body, I’m feeling better and I’m feeling hopeful. The sun is warming the earth and I can feel my mountains coming to life. Soon the cherry tree will be in full bloom and the grass... Read more

I did not attend the Lilith ritual at PantheaCon. I was busy drooling over the insanely gorgeous and talented Wendy Rule. So I don’t know what happened at the entrance. What words were used, what tone was used or what went down in general. So I can’t speak to that specific incident. It seems to be mainly a case of mis-communication where difficult interactions had to happen at the door. My impression of CAYA at Pcon was a good one,... Read more
