Jesus Said to the Blind Man, “I’m Sorry But You Aren’t a Westerner.”

Some days it just doesn’t pay to read the paper or the Internet. Almost every day I read something that shocks me about how inhumane humans have become when it comes to wealth and money. Today I read:

In 2005, the FDA granted approval for a promising new cancer-fighting drug called Nexavar. Bayer took it to market shortly thereafter, and it is currently an approved treatment for late-stage kidney and liver cancer. That is, so long as you live in the developed world. In a recently published interview in Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Bayer CEO Marijn Dekkers said that his company’s drug isn’t for poor people. “We did not develop this medicine for Indians … we developed it for western patients who can afford it,” he said back in December. http://thinkprogress.org/health/2014/01/26/3205861/pharmaceutical-ceo-cancer-drug-westerners-afford/

Jesus said to the blind man, “I’m sorry but you aren’t a westerner.” Jesus said to the Centurion whose servant was ill, “I’m sorry he doesn’t have insurance.” Jesus said to the woman who had been crippled for 18 years, “I’m sorry but you can’t afford my medicine. I have to make a profit here because my stock price is more important than your suffering or death.”

Those who only claim to follow Jesus believe that health care should be a profit center not a human right. This is because capitalism is their true religion, not Jesus. Socialized medicine is a curse word because profit is the real God of this country. Oh, it’s okay for the government to pay for police protection, firefighters, army, and navy. No one is suggesting they should be privatized, so “socialism” is okay there. Yet, when it comes to health care, we have bought the LIE that the American system is the best in the world. It is NOT. Never has been. It is a lie told by the Right to keep us paying for what definitely IS the most expensive health care by far… and, for a group of political donors, the most profitable. All I can say is thank God Jesus was a socialist when it came to whom he healed. Go ahead; forward this to your family. I dare you! Afraid of making them mad? Oh, yeah; it is only Indians who are dying so Americans can make more obscene profits.
