Rainbow Doritos Cause Christians To Panic

Rainbow Doritos Cause Christians To Panic September 18, 2015

Claiming that new Rainbow Doritos are flying the “colors of anti-Christian hate and oppression,” religious conservatives panic.

Doritos is now producing rainbow-colored chips in partnership with the nonprofit It Gets BetterThe It Gets Better Project was founded by Dan Savage and is dedicated to working with LGBT teens who are bullied — letting them know that there is a network of people in the world who will support them and love them and defend them based upon the pledge:

Everyone deserves to be respected for who they are. I pledge to spread this message to my friends, family and neighbors. I’ll speak up against hate and intolerance whenever I see it, at school and at work. I’ll provide hope for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other bullied teens by letting them know that it gets better.

The chips come in shades of green, blue, purple, red, and orange. Inspired by colors of the Pride flag they show support for the LGBT community. “Doritos Rainbows,” will be shipped out to people who donate at least $10 to Dan Savage’s It Gets Better Project through this website.

It is hard to see how anyone could object to such a noble and worthwhile cause as supporting LGBT youth and other teens dealing with bullies. However, many conservative Christians are outraged to the point of hysteria.

Conservative pundits John Nolte of Breitbart, declared Doritos is flying the “colors of anti-Christian hate and oppression.”

While Ed Straker, writing for the right-wing American Thinker, makes the absurd claim that the new chips are “the perfect gateway snack to introduce children to the joys of homosexuality” –

Doritos are a product marketed to children, so they make the perfect gateway snack to introduce children to the joys of homosexuality.

Straker is urging conservatives to “push other companies to launch pro-heterosexual campaigns” while calling for a boycott of Doritos and all products from its parent company, Pepsi. Straker writes:

PepsiCo, who make Doritos (through subsidiary Frito-Lay), are producing a homosexual version of Doritos called “Rainbow Doritos.” Doritos are a product marketed to children, so they make the perfect gateway snack to introduce children to the joys of homosexuality.

What business does PepsiCo have pushing homosexuality on our kids? This is how far our culture has shifted; it’s perceived to be cool to push a specific sexual orientation on children, even by companies that produce products that have nothing to do with sex. What’s next – gay toilet paper and tampons?

I think we need to boycott Pepsi and all related Frito-Lay products to deliver a message to Pepsi that if they are going to push gay propaganda on our kids, we are not going to give their products lip service any longer.

Furthermore, I think we should push other companies to launch pro-heterosexual campaigns. Perhaps we could persuade a hot dog maker and a hot dog bun company to do a joint effort promoting man-woman relationships.

Straker is an idiot, and his pathetic objections and calls for a boycott would be laughable except for the fact that LGBT youth are at risk. Straker’s comical complaints only adds fuel to the bigotry and hatred that LGBT youth face on a daily basis from ugly conservative Christians who take their cue from pundits like Straker.

Meanwhile all of Teabagistan continues to quiver in impotent rage and rain down vile abuse on the company’s social media accounts.

While it may be too late get your bag of Rainbow Doritos this year, it is never too late to support It Gets Better.
