Star Wars is based on the Bible, and that’s why Darth Vader wears a black costume, according to conservative Christian Fox News pundit Janine Turner.
Appearing on Fox Business News on Monday, former Northern Exposure actress turned conservative Christian pundit Janine Turner was asked to respond to MSNBC host Melissa Harris Perry’s suggestion that there was a racial component to Darth Vader’s character because he was dressed in black and voiced by a black man, and that after Vader turned away from the Dark Side, it was revealed that he was a white man.
Raw Story reports that Turner responded to Harris Perry on Monday by warning that “political correctness is going to be responsible for killing more Americans.”
Regarding Darth Vader, please! The Bible talks darkness and light. This is about evil and good. Darkness and light.
This doesn’t have anything to do with anything else, this goes back to biblical times. It’s been discussed in the Bible, Jesus talks about it. It’s about darkness and light, evil and good.
Bottom line: Turner is nuts. Star Wars is not based on the Bible, although some Christians would like to claim the franchise is Biblical for propaganda purposes.(Note: For a discussion of Melissa Harris Perry’s flawed analysis of Darth Vader on MSNBC, see Mediaite.)
