Conservative troll Milo Yiannopoulos is caught on tape endorsing pedophilia while thanking the Catholic priest who molested him as a child.
The internet blew a fuse last night after right wing provocateur and senior Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos was caught on tape advocating for sexual relationships between “younger boys and older men.”
As a result of the revelation, Yiannopoulos lost his keynote speaking slot at the Conservative Political Action Conference. In a statement issued Monday afternoon, Matt Schlapp, chairman of the group which sponsors CPAC, said:
Due to the revelation of an offensive video in the past 24 hours condoning pedophilia, the American Conservative Union has decided to rescind the invitation.
In the newly released video of a 2016 appearance on the Drunken Peasants podcast, Yiannopoulos is heard saying:
We get hung up on this sort of child abuse stuff to the point where we are heavily policing consensual adults.
In the homosexual world, particularly, some of those relationships between younger boys and older men — the sort of ‘coming of age’ relationship — those relationships in which those older men help those young boys discover who they are and give them security and safety and provide them with love and a reliable, sort of rock, where they can’t speak to their parents.
At one point the conservative Catholic pundit defends pedophilia as a way for young boys to “discover who they are.” In reply, the host declares:
It sounds like molestation to me. It sounds like Catholic priest molestation to me.
Yiannopoulos answers by defending the Catholic priest who raped him as a child:
But you know what? I’m grateful for Father Michael. I wouldn’t give nearly such good head if it wasn’t for him.

Reporting on the story, Vox notes:
Milo Yiannopoulos resurrected a dangerous old myth about gay men and pedophilia
This kind of myth has been used against gay people — and other minority groups — time and time again in America.
In an attempt at damage control, Yiannopoulos released a statement on his Facebook page denying that he endorses pedophbilia:
I do not support pedophilia. Period.
In the statement Yiannopoulos claims his remarks were “sloppy,” while claiming the he is the victim of an anti-Trump conspiracy.
At one point in the non-apology the conservative troll does admit that he was the victim of “clerical sexual abuse” when he was a teen:
I *did* joke about giving better head as a result of clerical sexual abuse committed against me when I was a teen. If I choose to deal in an edgy way on an internet livestream with a crime I was the victim of that’s my prerogative. It’s no different to gallows humor from AIDS sufferers.
Bottom line: The fact that as a teenager Yiannopoulos was raped by a Catholic priest is a sad and terrible thing, a crime that is all too common in the Catholic church. However, being a victim of Catholic clerical sexual abuse as a child does not excuse the comments endorsing pedophilia made when he was an adult.
