Trump Tweets Anti-Muslim Videos From Christian Hate Group November 29, 2017

Trump tweets videos from Britain First, a far right fascist party which claims to protect “British and Christian morality.”

In yet another national embarrassment, President Donald Trump “retweeted three videos published to Twitter by Jayda Fransen, the Deputy Leader of Britain First, a far-right ultranationalist party formerly known as the British National Party.”

Two of the three videos show Muslims engaged in terrible behavior. One video shows Muslims throwing a man off the roof of a building, another video shows a Muslim man beating a disabled Dutch boy on crutches, and the third video, which involves no violence, shows a Muslim man destroying a statue of the Virgin Mary.

Trump’s tweets, which were met with howls of protest from decent people around the world, were met with particular outrage in the U.K. Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of the U.K.’s Labour Party, called on the British government to condemn Trump’s sharing of the videos. Corbyn tweeted:

I hope our Government will condemn far-right retweets by Donald Trump. They are abhorrent, dangerous and a threat to our society.

British MP David Lammy also condemned Trump’s tweets, saying the president was not welcome in the U.K.:

Despite the controversy, and despite the abhorrent nature of the source of the tweets, the White House is standing by Trump’s offensive re-tweets. When questioned, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters it doesn’t matter if the videos that Trump is re-tweeting from a Christian hate group are true or not. Sanders said:

Whether it is a real video, the threat is real. That is what the President is talking about, that is what the President is focused on is dealing with those real threats, and those are real no matter how you look at it.

That’s right, according to Sanders, in Trump’s White House the truth is not important.

However, not everyone is upset with Trump’s reckless tweets. Former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke praised Trump for sharing the anti-Muslim videos via Twitter:

Trump retweets video of crippled white kid in Europe being beaten by migrants, and white people being thrown off a roof and then beaten to death. He’s condemned for showing us what the fake news media WON’T. Thank God for Trump! That’s why we love him!

Britain First is a far-right British nationalist political party formed in 2011 by anti-abortion campaigner Jim Dowson and Paul Golding. The group is infamous for holding “Christian patrols” and terrorizing British mosques,

Bottom line: Playing to his Republican base, Trump pleases white supremacists and Christian extremists by re-tweeting offensive anti-Muslim propaganda.
