Lazy incompetence: After a mass shooting in Northern California, President Donald Trump tweets condolences to the wrong victims.
After a mass shooting in the rural community of Rancho Tehama, California, left five dead, and at least 10 wounded, Trump sent condolences to victims of a mass shooting that happened at a Texas church earlier this month.
It would appear that the commander in chief is either too lazy or too incompetent to keep track of the barrage of mass shootings that continue to terrorize the nation.
After yet another mass shooting, this time in Northern California, President Donald Trump offered condolences on Twitter – but to victims of an attack that happened in Texas ten days ago.
On Tuesday morning, a gunman went on a shooting rampage at multiple locations in Rancho Tehama, California, about 120 miles north of Sacramento, killing 4 and injuring at least 10. His victims included a young child at a local elementary school before police shot and killed him.
Late Tuesday, the president tweeted his condolences to the victims – except he referred to the deadly incident that occurred at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, on Nov. 5, with no mention of California.
Trump’s misguided tweet was timestamped at 11:34 p.m. and remained live as of early Wednesday morning. It was deleted around eight hours later according to a report from Huffington Post.
Trump tweets absurdities on a fairly regular basis. However, this particular lazy and incompetent copy and paste failure was remarkably insensitive given the subject matter. As one might expect, Twitter was merciless, mocking Trump for his lazy incompetence:
No way. I thought people were joking. Donald Trump actually did tweet about the wrong mass shooting. Good lord. I know he’s not the brightest, but it’s wild we have such a big issue that POTUS can mix up the tragedies. pic.twitter.com/ec9ho0gUsJ

The President of the United States is tweeting at midnight about the wrong mass shooting and it’s like the 500th most insane Trump story of the week.

Jesus, he copy pasted his response to a mass shooting and forgot to change the location.
What a clown.
And, the FBI and Law Enforcement HAVE arrived. https://t.co/dM6kdu3fzL

For god’s sake, we had a TOTALLY DIFFERENT mass shooting today, in Northern California. Can you make an effort to keep up with the carnage #ThoughtsAndPrayers, please?
Also: *have* arrived

Bottom line: Offering thoughts and prayers after yet another mass shooting is the very least one can do in such a situation, but even with such a low bar, President Trump manages to fail.
