Trump Endorses Physical Violence Against Journalists At Montana Rally

Trump Endorses Physical Violence Against Journalists At Montana Rally October 19, 2018

In a new low President Trump celebrates violence against journalists, praising Rep. Greg Gianforte for body-slamming a reporter.

Even more horrifying, the Trump-loving crowd cheered when the president praised the violent assault against a reporter who was simply asking a politician some questions.

Speaking at an election rally in Montana Thursday night, Trump explicitly endorsed violent physical assault against reporters. Speaking about Rep. Greg Gianforte, who pleaded guilty to assaulting a journalist from the UK’s Guardian newspaper on the eve of his election last year.

At the rally Trump said:

Greg is smart. And by the way, never wrestle him. Any guy who can do a body-slam, he’s my guy.

Trump continued:

I had heard that he body-slammed a reporter. And he was way up … I said, ‘Oh this is terrible, he’s gonna lose. Then I said, ‘Wait a minute, I know Montana pretty well, I think it might help him.’ And it did.

Trump’s celebration of violence against journalists marks a new low for a president who routinely demonizes the press in a fashion not seen since the rise of Adolf Hitler in Nazi Germany.

As one might expect, the good people on Twitter were horrified at Trump’s dangerous remarks:

Bottom line: In a new low President Trump celebrates physical violence against journalists by praising Rep. Greg Gianforte for body-slamming a reporter. Even more horrifying, the Trump-loving crowd cheered for Trump when he endorsed physical violence against reporters.

Sad!
