GOP Congressional Candidate: No Peace Until Jews And Muslims Convert To Christianity

GOP Congressional Candidate: No Peace Until Jews And Muslims Convert To Christianity November 5, 2018

Former Baptist pastor and GOP congressional candidate from North Carolina Mark Harris claims there will be no peace until Jews and Muslims convert to Christianity.

Harris, the former pastor at Charlotte’s First Baptist Church and a Republican candidate for the U.S. House, is a controversial candidate known for pushing his extreme Christian views.

Earlier this week CNN reported on a recently uncovered sermon delivered in 2011 where Harris declared that there would be no peace in Jerusalem until Jews and Muslims convert to Christianity.

Discussing his visit to Jerusalem, Harris said:

You cannot be in that land, as powerful and as moving as it is, without realizing the incredible tension that is constantly in that land between the Palestinians and the Jews. There will never be peace in Jerusalem until the day comes that every knee shall bow, every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Harris continued:

Jesus, when he went into Jerusalem, said, ‘I am the vine. I am the true vine,’ and until those that are called in Islam realize that and until those that are called in Judaism realize that, for that matter, until those that are caught in the religion of Christianity and are missing the personal relationship with Jesus Christ, realize that, there’ll never be peace in their soul or peace in their city.

Harris, who won North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District GOP primary in May, has a well deserved reputation as a Christian extremist. In a 2013 sermon, Harris, then pastor of Charlotte’s First Baptist Church, spoke about “God’s plan for biblical womanhood,” and the modern difficulties for American women “to live out and fulfill God’s design.”

In his sermon Harris questioned whether a career was the “healthiest pursuit” for women, while insisting that the Bible clearly states that a woman has one title, and one title only: “helper.”

At the time Harris declared:

Only one title is given to a woman in all of scripture… the title given to a woman is ‘helper.’

According to reports the race between Harris and his opponent Democrat Dan McCready is too close to call.

Bottom line: Christian extremist and GOP congressional candidate Mark Harris claims there will be no peace until Jews and Muslims convert to Christianity.
