The stupid, it burns: Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson argues that people don’t need health care, they only need Jesus.
Appearing on the February 5 edition of the Fox Business Network program “Cavuto: Coast to Coast,” Robertson explained his simple-minded theory concerning health care while attacking Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris after she proposed a Medicare for All plan that would guarantee health care for every American.
Transcript via Media Matters:
NEIL CAVUTO (HOST): The core of your argument is that we have lost touch with simple values, but lost touch with god, and the government is no replacement. You say, “My view is simple: No government program, whether health care, social security, or whatever can save you. It may put food in your belly at great expense. It may get you in the hospital at even greater expense. It may provide for you in the dog days of your life. But only one thing will, and that’s Jesus.”
PHIL ROBERTSON (DUCK DYNASTY): We have been given a country through what [Sen.] Kamala Harris said. She says, “Elect me, and everything’s free. Look, everybody can have their own health care. The government’s going to finance the whole thing. It’s not going to cost but $30 trillion. I’m offering you the greatest deal you ever had. Elect me and everything will be free” —
CAVUTO: But she’s saying that other people who have been getting away with financial murder will pay for it, the rich, guys like you.
ROBERTSON: What I’m saying is that — Kamala, I already have health care. It’s given to me by God. Eternal health care. I’m guaranteed to be raised from the dead. I have life and immortality given to me by God through Jesus Christ —
CAVUTO: But people get sick on Earth in human form. So, would you advise —
ROBERTSON: The temporary reprieve is not worth it. I’m telling her: I have eternal health care, and it’s free.
Robertson is an idiot. And a liar. There is no doubt that should Robertson require medical attention, he would seek it out.
Good news from the right– you don’t even need healthcare because you get eternal healthcare from God in the afterlife and it’s free. pic.twitter.com/CjPCse7Ggw

Robertson’s mean-spirited ignorance is not surprising. The Duck Dynasty patriarch has become a popular symbol of Christian hate, often using his Christian faith to justify vile anti-gay bigotry, equating homosexuality to bestiality, and comparing LGBT people with drunkards, thieves, prostitutes, and adulterers.
However, in addition to his anti-trans, anti-gay rhetoric, Robertson also has a well documented history of urging men to wed underage girls. Previously Robertson has argued that marrying a girl who is not a teenager will only lead to trouble:
Look, you wait ‘til they get to be 20 years old, the only picking that’s going to take place is your pocket. You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16.
In his book “Happy, Happy, Happy: My Life and Legacy as the Duck Commander” Robertson even admits that he married his wife when she was only 15.
In short, Robertson often slanders LGBT people while advocating child marriage. He is a moral monster for Jesus, a leading spokesman for the American Taliban, and a potent symbol of Christian hate.
Bottom line: Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson claims Americans don’t need health care, they only need Jesus.
