Mississippi Lawmaker Doug McLeod Punches Wife In Face For Not Getting Naked For Sex May 22, 2019

Another “Good Christian Man” – Mississippi state Rep. Doug McLeod was arrested earlier this week after getting drunk and punching his wife in the face because she didn’t get undressed fast enough for sex.

The Sun Herald reports:

State Rep. Douglas McLeod was arrested after he allegedly punched his wife when she failed to get undressed quickly enough when he wanted to have sex, according to an investigative report filed with the George County Sheriff’s Department.

The 58-year-old Republican lawmaker was intoxicated and holding a glass of alcohol in his hand when deputies responded to the McLeod home shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, the report obtained by the Sun Herald said.

According to reports, the Republican lawmaker was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge after deputies from the George County Sheriff’s Department responded to his home and found him visibly intoxicated.

USA Today reports:

A George County Sheriff’s Department investigative report obtained by the Sun Herald says McLeod, 58, was visibly drunk when deputies arrived at the family’s home Saturday night.

Deputies report McLeod had punched his wife and bloodied her nose. They found blood on the bed and bedroom floor.

When McLeod opened the door and officers told him they were responding to a report of a domestic assault, they wrote that he replied “Are you kidding me?”

The deputies said they could hear McLeod when he walked back inside, yelling that “the cops are here.”

“Mr. McLeod had slurred speech and walked slow in a zigzag pattern,” deputies wrote, adding he was so inebriated he had to grab a handrail to maintain his balance.

No surprise that McLeod, a married father of three, claims he is a deeply religious man. On his Facebook page the pious GOP lawmaker declares:

My Presbyterian Faith and my wife’s Catholic Faith unite our strong Christian family values.

“Christian family values.”

In an attempt at damage control, Mississippi House Speaker Philip Gunn is calling for Mcleod’s resignation. In a statement Gunn said:

I have attempted to contact Rep. McLeod to request his resignation, if in fact, these allegations are true. These actions are unacceptable for anyone.

McLeod has represented George and Stone counties in Mississippi since 2012. He is running unopposed for re-election this year, and he is currently free on bail.

Bottom line: After getting drunk and punching his wife in the face because she didn’t get undressed fast enough for sex, Mississippi state Rep. Doug McLeod was arrested for domestic violence.

Remember, nothing says “Christian family values” like getting drunk and beating up your wife.
