Report: Hope Hicks Thought Her Prayers Prevented Media From Reporting Porn Star Payoff

Report: Hope Hicks Thought Her Prayers Prevented Media From Reporting Porn Star Payoff July 19, 2019

Thoughts and prayers: Hope Hicks believes that her prayers prevented the media from reporting on the Stormy Daniels scandal prior to the 2016 election.

New information gathered from search warrants and unsealed earlier this week show that Hicks lied under oath during a closed-door interview last month in front of the House Judiciary Committee.

Previously Hicks had testified that she knew nothing about the Stormy Daniels allegations until after the election. However, the new information shows that Hicks played a central role in arranging the hush money payments, and was “praying” that the media would not pick up the story prior to the 2016 election.

Courthouse News Service reports

The 895-page trove shows that Cohen exchanged a “series of calls, text messages and emails” with Trump; his then-press secretary Hope Hicks; the National Enquirer’s publisher David Pecker and editor Dylan Howard; and Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Keith Davidson.

Raw Story reports:

According to the court documents, President Donald Trump, Hope Hicks and Cohen were all in communication about the hush-money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels. Not only did Hicks discuss the payments with both men, she exchanged text messages and emails on the topic.

Greg Walters, a journalist for Vice News, tweeted out the following documentation concerning Hicks and her belief that her prayers were preventing the media from reporting the story:

Hope Hicks apparently told Michael Cohen to try to pray the hush-money scandal away less than a week before the 2016 election. “So far I see only 6 stories,” Cohen texted her. “Keep praying!! It’s working!” Hicks texted back.

The new information concerning Hicks involvement in the hush-money payment scheme leaves her vulnerable to felony charges of perjury and obstruction of justice. And, as one might imagine, the House Judiciary Committee wants to speak with Hicks about her dishonest testimony. Politico reports:

The House Judiciary Committee on Thursday demanded Hope Hicks return for a second round of questioning within the next month to clarify what it described as “inconsistent” testimony she gave about Donald Trump’s hush-money payments to an adult film actress.

As for potential criminal charges, Congressman Ted Lieu tweeted out the following:

Looks like Hope Hicks lied during Congressional investigation when we at @HouseJudiciary interviewed her. That’s two felonies: Perjury & Obstruction of Justice.

Hicks consulted with lawyers throughout her interview. Did @TheJusticeDept or @WhiteHouse lawyers know she was lying?

Bottom line: A week before the 2016 election Hope Hicks told Michael Cohen to pray the hush-money scandal away, declaring: “Keep praying!! It’s working!”
