Cult of Trump: Nikki Haley, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations who resigned from her position last year, insists that Donald Trump is always “truthful.”
Haley, who is currently promoting her new book, “With All Due Respect: Defending America with Grit and Grace,” insisted that Trump is a truthful person, and was truthful “in every instance” she interacted with him, while appearing on NBC’s “Today” show.
Watch the interview below –
On Tuesday, NBC News’ Savannah Guthrie asked Haley whether she thinks the president is a truthful person. Haley replied:
Yes. In every instance that I dealt with him, he was truthful, he listened, and he was great to work with.
Haley is wrong. Indeed, she is being dishonest. Trump lies about everything, all the time. The Washington Post reports:
As President Trump approaches his 1,000th day in office Wednesday, he has significantly stepped up his pace of spouting exaggerated numbers, unwarranted boasts and outright falsehoods. As of Oct. 9, his 993rd day in office, he had made 13,435 false or misleading claims…
During the interview, Haley also claimed that Trump was fit to be president, declaring:
I never had any concerns on whether he could handle the job ever.
This comment sheds little light on Trump’s well documented incompetence. However, it does serve to illuminate the profound poverty of Haley’s character and intellect.
Haley also defended Trump against the prospect of impeachment, complaining that impeachment is “literally the worst punishment” that can happen to a president:
I have made up my mind. Impeachment is literally the worst punishment you can do to a public official … impeachment is serious. It’s the most serious thing you can do to a president,” she said. “The other side of this is we are less than a year away from the election. Instead, let the people decide. Let them hear the testimony, that’s fine, but let them decide.
As one might imagine, Haley’s dishonest remarks concerning Trump’s competency and truthfulness, were widely mocked online. The following is a sample of the reactions via Twitter:
Nikki Haley says Trump never lies:
Obama’s birth certificate a fraud
Ted Cruz’s dad helped kill JFK
Mexico will pay for my wall
I’ll release my tax returns
Largest inauguration ever
I have no ties to Russia
I never paid Stormy Daniels
No quid pro quo with Ukraine

Every time I see someone sacrifice her integrity like this for @realDonaldTrump, I think of that line from the Bourne Identity and the Bourne Conspiracy: “Look at us. Look at what they make you give.” https://t.co/Nwet8cdhbQ

Nikki Haley told Savannah Guthrie “of course trump is truthful.”
Hard to believe that folks like me actually thought at one time Haley was intelligent and honorable.
She has ZERO credibility.

In short, Haley has consumed the Kool-Aid. She has surrendered her credibility, and is but another pathetic sycophant; yet another Republican failure, yet another obsequious and servile worm in the cult of Trump.
Bottom line: Former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations : Nikki Haley, , insists that Donald Trump is a competent president, and always “truthful.”
