After being assaulted on live TV, Alex Bozarjian, a news reporter for WSAV-TV, is filing sexual battery charges against Georgia youth minister Tommy Callaway.

NBC News reports:

A TV news reporter who was covering a road race in Georgia when she was slapped on the backside by a runner is seeking criminal charges against the man she said “violated” her.

Alex Bozarjian filed a sexual battery report with the Savannah Police Department on Monday, saying she wanted the department to pursue charges against the man, identified as Thomas Callaway. The department told NBC News on Wednesday that a detective has been assigned and the matter is under investigation.

Earlier this week, in a deplorable display of poor judgement, youth minister Tommy Callaway was caught on live television groping Bozarjian while she was reporting on the Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run in Savannah, Georgia.

In a tweet after the unfortunate incident, reporter Bozarjian called out the pervy perpetrator, later identified as youth minister Tommy Callaway:

To the man who smacked my butt on live TV this morning: You violated, objectified, and embarrassed me. No woman should EVER have to put up with this at work or anywhere!! Do better

Appearing on CBS This Morning earlier today, Bozarjian talked about the assault, at one point noting:

It’s not OK to help yourself to a woman’s body just because you feel like it. He hurt me, both physically and emotionally.

As for Callaway, he has been busy at damage control. Speaking with WSAV News 3, Callaway, a 43-year-old married father of two daughters who serves as a youth minister at Pittman Park United Methodist Church, made an attempt at an apology, at one point saying:

I’m thankful for this opportunity to share my apology to her and to her family, her friends and her co-workers. It was an awful act and an awful mistake.

I am not that person that people are portraying me as. I make mistakes, I’m not perfect and I’m asking for forgiveness and to accept my apology.

One wonders if Callaway is truly sorry for his heinous actions, or if he’s simply sorry he got caught.

Either way it’s in the hands of law enforcement now.

Bottom line: Alex Bozarjian, a news reporter for WSAV-TV, is filing sexual battery charges against Georgia youth minister Tommy Callaway after Callaway assaulted her on live TV.
