Theocracy Alert: The White House YouTube account is streaming a vile anti-gay church sermon attended by Vice President Mike Pence.
Vice President Mike Pence called for people to remember the words of Martin Luther King Jr. “in these divided times” while attending a church where a bishop described how “the devil” is to blame for gay people.
Pence spoke at the Holy City Church of God in Christ in Memphis, Tennessee, on Sunday ahead of Martin Luther King Jr. Day in order to pay tribute to the civil rights icon.
LGBTQ Nation reports:
Mike Pence speaks at church event where bishop delivers vicious anti-LGBTQ sermon. The bishop called Pence a “man of God” before launching into a rant about “plumbing” and insinuating he would attack a gay man. The White House streamed it live.
While Vice President Mike Pence was the featured speaker at the Holy City Church of God In Christ, located in Memphis, Tennessee, it was Bishop Jerry Wayne Taylor, pastor and founder of the church, who made headlines by viciously attacking gay people during his sermon, a sermon which the White House streamed live.
Bishop Taylor went on a vicious, hate-filled and dishonest rant, telling his large congregation, the Vice President, and the thousands of people who have viewed or will view the sermon on the White House YouTube channel, that homosexuality is caused by “a demonic spirit.”
Bishop Taylor said:
Two men can’t have a baby. Two women can’t have a baby…we allow abortion to go, we’re cuttings off presidents and queens.
The foundation is important. We got to encourage young men and women to get married…
It’s a demonic spirit that causes another woman to want to live with another woman. It’s a demonic spirit that causes another man, a man to be attracted to another man.
God didn’t make us for that. He made a man to be a man. If you want to know what God made you, when you go to the bathroom check your plumbing…what kind of plumbing are you using.
Taylor tried to justify his despicable rant by declaring:
We got to expose what the devil is doing.
While it is not surprising that conservative Christians would preach a message of hatred, bigotry, and intolerance, it is surprising that the official White House YouTube channel and other official White House social media accounts would stream such despicable hate speech live.
However, this is now Trump’s White House, and conservative Christians feel free to openly promote hatred and bigotry in the name of their pathetic and backward religious superstition.
As for Vice President Mike Pence, he has not apologized or expressed regret by being a part of this Christian hate rally. Indeed, for all intents and purposes it would seem that Pence endorses and approves of such hate speech.
Bottom line: The White House YouTube account is streaming a vile anti-gay church sermon attended by Vice President Mike Pence.
